Containers were literally made for industrial storage! Since the invention of containers in 1956, they have been used for both static storage and shipping. Various variations have come into use since then, so we now have a range of options with different door configurations and sizes to suit any use.
What can I store in a container?
Containers can be used to store almost anything, after all, most items are likely to be shipped across the country in a container! However, some items are more susceptible to moisture, which is something to consider if you are storing documents, fabrics, or anything else that could be damaged by water.
What types of containers are available with a 40ft side-opening container?
The two most common types of moving self-storage containers are the standard 20ft or 40ft containers. They are 8ft wide and 8ft 6in high. They have a full width door on one end and are the cheapest option available. If required, we can produce custom lengths by cutting larger containers. Some containers have an extra foot in height (9ft 6in), these are called high cubes.
Condensation in Containers 20ft Container Insulation
A container is essentially extra space storage containers and temperature fluctuations can cause condensation to form in the container. This can drip onto items below and potentially damage items that need to be kept dry. There are several ways to combat this “container rain” and our recommended option is one of our self-install insulation kits which offer excellent protection at a reasonable cost. If your container is used frequently, we recommend a full plywood lining and insulation, which is much more expensive, but the plywood will protect the insulation underneath from damage when loading and unloading the container.
Are containers weatherproof?
In a nutshell – yes. Containers are designed to transport goods in the harshest conditions on earth and are therefore well designed to prevent intrusion from rain or wind. However, as they get older, they may require some maintenance to keep them that way. We recommend inspecting your container regularly to check for any leaks.
Storage Containers Why Use Containers for Storage?
The main benefit of using containers for industrial storage is flexibility. Warehouse and storage space can be expensive and using containers allows customers to quickly and easily add storage space. This is very useful and cost effective for companies with large seasonal fluctuations in trade, large contracts that require additional storage space or businesses that have outgrown their available space. We have several customers who use unused outdoor space to store containers and are able to manage this effectively by increasing and decreasing the number of containers in response to changing demand.
